Jay Jays Hair follows a Colour Responsible Policy for the safety and

peace of mind for our clients.

  • SKIN TESTING AND SCREENING FOR SENSITIVITY AND REACTIONS

    We use testing and screening to check the suitability of the colouring products we provide. For your first colour appointment (or if it is 6 months since your last Skin Test) you will need to make an appointment to attend the salon at least 48 hours before your colour appointment, your stylist will ensure that this is booked in plenty of time. We will apply a small amount of colour behind your ear. Leave for 48 hours. Should you experience any signs of irritation such as reddening, inflammation, itching or burning please contact us. If you develop symptoms that make you unwell, please contact a medical professional. When you attend the salon, we will complete consultation including analysing your hair and scalp. We have vast experience in safe colouring - you can be sure we only use the best products and invest in the most up to date practices. We take your safety and our work seriously.   • WHY DO I NEED A SKIN TEST?

    Reactions to hair colour can be serious and even life threatening. There are strict guidelines from manufacturers, insures, industry bodies and the MHRAA around using hair colour. We endeavour to give you peace of mind so that you can safely enjoy your visit to the salon.

  • HOW LONG DOES A SKIN TEST TAKE AND MUCH DOES IT COST?

    You will need a skin test at least 48 hours before your colour appointment. This is because a reaction can happen over a period of time, not always straight away. A 15-minute appointment will be arranged to complete a consultation and any test and is free, for all regular clients a 6 monthly skin test will be completed this will take no longer than a 5-minute appointment.

  • WILL I BE TESTED EVERY TIME I HAVE A COLOUR?

    We will notify you when your next test is needed upon booking your appointment. It is important that you tell your stylist if any changes in your health or medication. If nothing has changed since your last test and we have a valid record (within the last last 6 months) it will be fine to carry out your service.

  • I HAVE BEEN COLOURING MY HAIR FOR YEARS, WHY DO I NEED A TEST?

    One of the triggers for sensitivity and reactions to hair colour is exposure over time, therefore it is important we keep monitoring for your safety. Jay Jays Hair takes your safety very seriously. No skin test - no colour service.
